Porcelain Manufacturing in Merklín
This minor factory was established in Merklín in 1881 and was registered under the name "Elsa". Common utility porcelain was produced. In 1945 the porcelain factory was nationalized and its production switched to the production of industrial porcelain. In 1958 the plant was integrated into the Elektroporcelán Louny (Electrical Porcelain Louny) national enterprise.
Elektroporcelán Louny was established in 1958 by the merger of three plants – the Jizera porcelain factory, the Čab Porcelain factory in Slovakia and the Louny porcelain factory. With the specialized plants of Louny, Bohosudov, Merklín, Žacléř, Čab, Desná II and its operations in Raspenava, Klenčí and Desná I, it was the only producer of electro-technical porcelain in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic.
